Graduated at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of San Sebastián, Mikel Ortíz de Eribe Uribarren (Barakaldo, 1989) obtained his degree in architecture from the UPV/EHU in 2015, in the midst of the aftermath of the construction crisis, which led him to seek a professional future outside the Basque Country. In 2016, he moved to Dublin, and a year later to Brussels, where he joined the SHSH studio thanks to a scholarship. From there, he was sent to the headquarters in Sendai (Japan), participating as a project manager in international competitions for the Tokyo Olympics and a cultural centre in Hachinohe.
On his return to Bilbao in 2018, he started his own business, B3K Arkitektura, combining his own commissions with a scholarship as a municipal architect at Bilbao City Council.
In 2020, he moved to Donostia, joining the EITZEN Arkitektura studio as a partner, which he co-directs with Joseba Inunciaga. Among the projects of various scales and contexts developed by his studio are a hotel-restaurant in the French Basque Country, the renovation of a school for the Basque Government, a Latxa Cheese Interpretation Centre in Ordizia, the renovation of a building to house a restaurant-hostel in Arama, a change of use to house four dwellings, also in Arama, a three-storey graphic design studio in Andoain, and the refurbishment and extension of a hotel-restaurant on the slopes of Elantxobe. They have just won first prize in the ideas competition organised by the Gipuzkoa Association of Quantity Surveyors.
